Roscoe H. Hillenkoetter (1897–1982) was a U.S. Navy rear admiral and the first Director of Central Intelligence, serving from 1947 to 1950. He appears in the archive in the 1971 Australian Department of Defence intelligence assessment (CIA-UAP-019), which cited his public statements that the U.S. government possessed knowledge about UFOs and that official secrecy on the matter was unjustified.
