Luis W. Alvarez (1911–1988) was an American experimental physicist at the University of California, Berkeley, who received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1968 for his discovery of resonance states in particle physics. He served as a member of the CIA's Robertson Panel on unidentified flying objects in January 1953 and appears in the archive in the Robertson Panel report and the related transmission to the Secretary of Defense.
