Scott Carpenter (1925–2013) was a U.S. Navy aviator and NASA astronaut who flew the Aurora 7 mission (Mercury-Atlas 7) in May 1962, becoming the second American to orbit the Earth. He appears in the archive in connection with NASA astronaut scientific debriefings conducted in 1962–1963, in which his orbital observations were reviewed.
