Summary

This is a redacted FBI FD-1057 Electronic Communication recording a formal interview conducted in October 2024 with a U.S. person (identity redacted) regarding multiple incidents potentially involving unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) in the northeastern United States over the previous three years. The witness is described as being currently employed at a redacted facility, and as a self-described former skeptic who had no prior interest in UAP before their first sighting in November 2021. The document records detailed accounts of multiple sighting events, the witness's outreach to a former official who warned them to "be careful," a 1996 vehicle-shutdown encounter in New Mexico described by an Army officer the witness was traveling with, and the witness's methodical use of ADS-B data to eliminate aircraft as an explanation. The document is part of the FBI-UAP-D004 through D008 cluster, all relating to the same northeastern U.S. investigation.

The document and its context

FBI-UAP-D005 is an FD-1057 Electronic Communication recording a formal FBI interview — conducted at an FBI facility — with the same U.S. person whose video evidence is documented in FBI-UAP-D004. The interview occurred in October 2024. All identifying information has been redacted: the witness's name, employer, property address, and the specific date within October 2024 are withheld. The Case ID again references both the Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon (UAP) and Unidentified Anomalous Phenomenon (UAP) designators, consistent with the broader cluster.

The witness is described as currently employed by a redacted organization and working primarily in a redacted facility. The witness had spoken with fellow and former employees about their sightings.

First sighting and subsequent observations

The witness's first UAP sighting occurred on a date in November 2021 (exact date redacted). At approximately 5am, while exercising inside their house, the witness noticed lights outside their back window. Initially believing someone was in the yard with a flashlight, the witness went outside and observed "a singular light that eventually split into two or three lights." This formed "a triangular pattern with a light in the center and remained for approximately ten minutes." The witness got another household member to observe the lights as well. While filming on a smartphone, the witness accidentally took a flash photo, and "the lights immediately disappeared."

A sighting on March 2022 is also documented, referencing a video previously provided to the FBI. The document notes the UAP sightings "are typically at dusk or at night and the light observed appears to morph and move laterally."

The witness had lived at the current property since 2021 but previously lived approximately five miles from the current home. From the current property, the witness stated they had "seen hundreds of these lights" and had "numerous videos and photos" they were willing to share. Other people who had visited the property had also seen the lights.

The document states the witness had "seen more activity since September" [2024], and that "there have been shorter bursts" with corrupted video being a common occurrence when recording.

Outreach to a former official and a warning

The witness reached out through LinkedIn to a redacted individual described as "formerly of" a redacted organization, to discuss the sightings. In conversations with this former official, the witness was told that what they were observing "was legitimate and that 'people have been hurt by these things' and to be careful."

The former official then asked the witness if they had ever had a UFO experience before. The witness responded by describing a 1996 incident in which they were driving with an Army officer from Fort Bliss, Texas, to Fort Carson, Colorado. While in New Mexico, the witness "claimed that the vehicle [they were] driving shut down and a large light shined on [them] and [their] passenger. After about two minutes the light went away and the vehicle's electronics turned back on." This is a secondary account of a separate, earlier encounter, reported to the FBI through the witness's recollection during the interview.

Analytical methodology: ADS-B cross-referencing

The document records the witness's self-initiated effort to apply analytical rigor to their sightings. The witness "explained how [they] used ADSB data to try [to] disprove what [they were] seeing as aircraft flying overhead." The method involved cross-referencing date and time stamps with ADS-B records to determine which sightings might be explained by aircraft, then determining the azimuth of observed lights and checking the ADS-B data. This systematic approach, applied over years of observation, is noted alongside the witness's acknowledgment that "a lot of what [they] said may seem weird or crazy."
